For the past 23 years, ICONMA’s recruiters and recruiting managers have contributed to the growth of our organization, meeting our clients’ needs and making a positive difference in the workforce. ICONMA has expertise in finding candidates with various skillsets, such as information technology, engineering, healthcare, and more.
Kelli has been a part of the ICONMA family over the past four years and has provided tips for job seekers and describes her daily routine as a recruiting manager.
What does a typical day look like?
A typical day as a recruiting manager with ICONMA is fast-paced, exciting, and rewarding. There’s never a day you’ll work on the same task. As a recruiting manager, you’re assigned to lead, mentor and grow your team. It is also the responsibility of the recruiting manager to help your recruiters with questions regarding a job description, to source qualified candidates, and or submit/close candidates for our clients.
It’s important to develop a strong relationship with your colleagues and recruiters. Once the relationship is developed, that individual/candidate will be comfortable reaching out to you to address any questions, or concerns.
Most of my day consists of helping a team of recruiters to overcome challenges internally and externally when delivering a candidate. My day is filled with scheduled and non-scheduled calls with recruiters, candidates, or colleagues.
What do you love about your job?
I love the fact that my job is different every day, and that the support I can offer to recruiter’s aids in their success and achieving their goals. To me it’s rewarding to see the team of recruiters work hard to meet their goals.
I love helping recruiters find their next candidate and see the candidate move toward their next job. Recruiting is rewarding, as you can turn a bad day into a good day with one simple phone call.
Any advice for job seekers?
If I had to advise for future recruiting managers/recruiters, it is stay positive and work hard. Life as a recruiting manager/recruiter is not easy, many candidates may not want to speak to you right away and you can’t take it personally as remaining positive is a big part of recruiting. If you stay positive and on top of our candidate calls and emails, recruiting will be rewarding, and the results will follow.
