Jim Agnew, an Account Support Specialist at ICONMA, will celebrate his 10th anniversary with the company this year. As part of our team, he is responsible for ensuring a smooth onboarding process for our clients. Here’s a look into his daily work routine as he reflects on 10 years with ICONMA and shares some advice he has for job seekers looking for their next role.
What does a typical day in your role look like?
My typical day starts by checking my emails, reviewing my daily tasks to maintain our account, and reviewing our clients’ trackers to meet their onboarding needs. My role ensures that ICONMA is meeting our clients’ needs for their weekly/monthly onboarding goals and overseeing the onboarding process for our contractors. I work closely with our Account Managers, Background Check Team, Client Relationship Specialists (CRS), and Recruiters to ensure these client onboarding metrics are being met. This includes daily collaboration with our Background Check Representatives and our CRSs to ensure we have the correct and accurate documents needed in order to get our contractors cleared to begin their new assignments.
I also work directly with our onsite MSP contacts to ensure that the onboarding process is flowing effectively so that the contractor can begin their assignment without any issues. Every day I work with my support team to answer onsite Manager inquiries and share the client feedback to our teams to help streamline any process improvements. This includes reviewing daily, weekly, and monthly reporting to track overall account progress and highlighting improvement areas. Also, on a daily and weekly basis, I will have conversations with our Account Managers and leaders on our team to brainstorm strategies and collaborate on ways to improve our processes and overall performance.
What do you love about your job?
One thing I love about my job is getting the satisfaction of being able to help our new contractors start their new careers and/or start their dream job. It is not always easy finding a job, so being able to assist someone in this process brings great satisfaction, no matter whether they’re finally starting a job they’ve been working towards or are starting a new career path that can improve their well-being. Another thing I love about working at ICONMA is the amazing coworkers I get to work with daily. My ICONMA team members are very supportive and overall great people to work with, which provides for a wonderful work environment.
Any advice for job seekers?
My advice to job seekers while applying to jobs would be to tailor your resume to the specific job that you are applying for. As we all know, finding a job can be a job in itself, so always make sure your resume can match and show that you have the correct skills for each specific job. It is key to getting noticed and ensuring you can get an interview for the position. Once you have the interview, the next thing would be to research the company and the person who is interviewing you, as well as know the job description and job duties as best as possible. Also, make sure you have a list of questions for the interviewer as asking questions shows that you’re interested in the job and want to learn further about that job outside of what is already listed in the job description. Be sure to thank the Manager for their time and writing a thank you note can also go a long way in sealing the deal for yourself.
