Day in the Life of an IT Recruiter
Parul Agarwal is a part of ICONMA’s IT Recruiting team recruiting for clients nationwide, in a broad range of industries. Parul has a niche for developing relationships amongst her candidates, and the internal ICONMA team. Working closely with the Account Management, Delivery, Contractor Relations as well as other teams, Parul has shown what it is like to be a team-player, along with her true passion for the staffing industry.
“I have 6+ yrs of experience as a Recruiter. After pursuing my master’s degree, I jumped right into recruitment and thought, this is it. I am glad I chose this career and really proud of what I do.
I am originally from India but moved to US in 2014 . My home is now New Jersey, and I work remotely, pandemic gave a reason for us to work from home and I love to work from home but also miss interacting with co-workers in person. I joined ICONMA in June 2021, its been 8 months already, the time went by fast, and these eight months have been really fruitful for me. There were ups and downs, but my hard work paid off
“My current expertise is in the IT industry; I work on non-IT requirements as well. I have recruited for several clients and industries like Financial, aerospace, healthcare.
My goal is to work on different positions and not limit myself to any particular industry or domain and be a very successful recruiter. I love to spend time with my kids and husband when not working.
I love taking long nature walks and playing games with my kids.”
Typical Day
Recruitment is not a rocket science; anyone can do it but to become a successful recruiter, you have to be aggressive and highly organized. You have to prioritize the tasks and work accordingly.
- I typically start my day checking the emails and sending the Priority Report.
- Prioritize the requirements I am assigned to and start working on those.
- Sourcing people through various sources like different job boards, social media, referrals and locking them for different requirements, making submissions and coordinating interviews
- Talking to my managers if I am in need of any new requirement, communicating with them over teams or phone in case of any need
- Recording offers if any, closing the candidates and doing reference checks
- Thinking of new ways to keep myself organized and how to succeed
