Day in the Life of a System Administrator
Kudzai Machamire has been a vital part of the ICONMA team for almost a decade. “I have worked for ICONMA for more than 8 years now. It doesn’t seem like it has been that long,” said Kudzai.
What does a typical day as a System Administrator look like?
“My days often begin by responding to any critical issues that need to be resolved. From there, I work on other non-urgent requests and tasks that our staff send in throughout the day.
I set aside some time to process ongoing projects. It could be something like working with a vendor for better pricing on some of our services or renewing IT contracts. There are always times in my day dedicated to configuring, monitoring, and maintaining our mail server, applications, security software, and other technologies. I also periodically review and evaluate how current systems and applications are meeting ICONMA’s needs and recommend changes to our management team when needed.”
What I love about my job
When asked what he loves about his job, Kudzai said, “Getting to work with a wide range of technologies to solve day to day business problems and solving technical problems and developing connections with all the wonderful teams we have here at Iconma.”
