ICONMA, a premier provider of professional staffing and project-based services and solutions, announced today that Managing Member Claudine George is a Finalist for the Ernst & Young 2009 Entrepreneur of the Year award in the Central Great Lakes region.
According to Ernst & Young, the awards program recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate extraordinary success in the areas of innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Ms. George was selected as a finalist from hundreds of nominations by a panel of independent judges. Award winners will be announced at a special gala event on June 11, 2009 at the Ritz Carlton in Dearborn, MI.
Claudine George, ICONMA’s Founder and Managing Member, commented,
“Being a finalist is a testament to the expertise, accomplishments, and personal commitment of the entire ICONMA team. It is a great privilege for the company to be considered for this prestigious award. This honor is a symbol of ICONMA’s sterling performance in recruiting, training, and placing a diverse workforce for our clients.”
The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards program celebrates its 23rd anniversary this year. The program has expanded to recognize business leaders in over 135 cities in 50 countries throughout the world. Regional award winners are eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year national program.
Award winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California, on November 14, 2009. The awards are the culminating event of the Ernst & Young Strategic Growth Forum, the nation’s most prestigious gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies.
The EoY, Ernst & Young lingo for “Entrepreneur of the Year,” has become the Oscar of the business world. Ted Turner was an EoY in 1989. Howard Schultz of Starbucks Coffee joined the elite EoY club in 1991. Amazon.com’s Jeff Bezos joined in 1997, two years before he was named Time’s Person of the Year.
“Forget Harvard, Stanford and other top-league alma maters. Arguably, the most prestigious alumni association is the Entrepreneur of the Year Institute,” wrote USA Today in its Feb. 11, 2000 issue.
